The American Medical Student Association (AMSA) at UC San Diego is hosting its 12th Annual Health Fair, and we would like you to join us in helping our community. We are a non-profit, national, student-run, pre-medical organization committed to providing pre-health students with hands-on opportunities and helping to improve our local community.

Our 12th Annual Health Fair is free and open to the public. Its purpose is to educate low-income and under-served families in San Diego about health-related issues and preventative practices, while providing free, non-invasive medical services. It features an array of health organizations, food, and entertainment for the public of all ages to enjoy. This year, we are focusing on helping rebuild underserved communities of San Diego that have been significantly impacted by COVID-19. Based on the San Diego County HHSA (Health and Human Services Agency) March 2022 report, 43.8% of COVID-19 deaths in San Diego County were from people of Hispanic/Latino descent; many of whom are part of the communities that AMSA at UCSD’s Health Fair intends to aid. In addition, based on the HHSA’s report on the COVID-19 rate by race/ethnicity in San Diego County as of March, both the Black and Hispanic communities had the most reported cases out of the total 742,724 cases, with 29,290 and 283,453 cases respectively.

As pre-health students, we aspire to be a mouthpiece for communities that don't have the resources to speak for themselves. Knowledge empowers people, and by spreading awareness, we can strengthen these underserved communities so they will be prepared for future health-threatening events.
